Requested by people having trouble with mana management.

The first thing that I'm going to do is direct you to this post on the Rift Forums written by VooDoo's Rantology. It is an excellent guide to the use of DoL Hybrid Raid Healing Builds and mentions virtually everything you need to know. There is also macros and explanations to each of the builds, potential rotations (for the DPS heavy variants) and other useful changes to the builds.

http://forums.riftgame.com/rif.....acros.html

The first thing to note is your individual play style when selecting your 'basic' build and to look at the needs of the raid.

You will be needed for one of the following reasons:

-Raid Healing and possible contribution to tank healing. (Senticar)

-DPS and a Spiked raid healing. (Inquisicar)

-Battle Rezzes during progression and Decent Raid Healing. (Traditional Senticar - even Sent/Justicar - This spec is less needed once people don't die to mechanics)

For me, Shamicar is not really an optimal spec for use in raiding, despite it's ability to regain mana. For DPS you'd chose Inquisicar, and for Healing you'd chose Senticar.

This is where the different specs come in.

Personally I have 3 different icar specs for many different versions and use them for different situations (Both PvP and PvE)

$$ But my go to spec is still the 38/17/11 Inquisicar Spec. It puts out some pretty beast heals and I usually manage to keep DPS around 1K depending on the fight. I've tried almost every spec out there, and for me, this is the money spec. I also change between Mein of Honor and Aggression depending on the fight or even change mid fight if I find they need more heals/DPS.

On unforgiving/progression fights where people need Brez's I have the traditional Senticar spec. And I also have a 1brez deep Senticar spec which I use for Experts and some of the bosses in 10mans where we use two raid healers and we need the extra heal or two on top of raid healing.

In terms of mana usage some people have been mentioning that they're going through their mana like there's no tomorrow, this should NOT be happening. It either means you're spamming DoL  (not in the good 'DoL spam' way, you're literally spamming aimlessly) or you're not using your mana return abilities and Mana Tonics to regain your mana. Do not be scared to move into melee to hit the boss to use Purpose, and with Aggressive Renewal use it early on when you are about 75% mana and then use it on CD.

If I use Purpose when needed, I rarely use Mana Tonics, (And I have no Aggressive Renewal in that build) and I never run out of mana. The only time I use a Tonic is if I am unable to get to melee for some obscene reason (or if I'm ranged on Murdantix) I can't think of another boss off the top of my head where you have a reason NOT to take a few steps into melee to use purpose.

In Inquisicar I have Agressive Renewal and no Purpose, I use Agressive Renewal early on (About 75%) and then on CD and if I get to 10% I use a tonic. Between Archon (Mental Flare), Warden (Cascade) if you have one, Bard (Verse of Joy), Consumables (Heroic Mana Tonic and if you're rich and struggling, Elder Tablets), you should NEVER run out of mana. Even if you have died and recieved a battle Rez, you should be able to manage your mana and healing through the above that you should not run out of mana and if you do it should be brief.

And I know that there is a potential to say 'But look at me topping heals' But both myself and other people are very competitive in their healing with the 38/17/11 Inquisicar and don't have mana issues. It's about learning where you're making mistakes or bad decisions and working on that. Whether that be spamming too often, not knowing when to use DoL and when to simply continue to use Reparation to top up and things like that.

Remember, it's your responsibility to manage your mana, you can't depend on the Bard's Verse of Joy, or Mental Flare or the chance that you might have a Warden. These restore a minimal amount of mana and Verse of Joy is NOT your personal mana refreshment. It is used for mass benefit and is actually predominantly a DPS boost, it other resources and should NOT be used for a single person who has mismanaged their mana.

TL;DR? (Warning: This is bound to be blunt)

38/17/11 Inquisicar is great if you don't need Battle Rezzes, if not, Traditional Senticar is probably what you are looking for.

If you are running out of mana, (for inquisicar: move another point into Justicar for Purpose).... Stop being a pansy/lazy, move into melee and use purpose when you need it, or stock up on Heroic Mana Tonics. If you are still running out of mana, and choose not to use Purpose, you are letting people die.

Welcome to HK.
